“It is the scaffold users/hirers responsibility to ensure that all scaffolding has been inspected as follows: following installation/before first use. at an interval of no more than every 7 days thereafter. following any circumstances liable to jeopardise the safety of the installation eg high winds”.
A fully qualified and experienced inspector will visit site as arranged, they will inspect the scaffold in accordance with TG20 and any site-specific scaffold design.
A full photographic report will be issued within 24hrs identifying any action that is required immediately, any advisory comments, highlighting areas where best practice has been carried out.
*Immediate or urgent action items will be discussed before the inspector leaves site.
Preliminary tests – check the suitability of a fixing to support the required tie loads in a particular base material.
Proof tests – check the quality of installation of chosen anchors.
NASC TG20:21
Site anchor tests should be carried out by a competent person (other than the actual installer of the fixings) ideally someone who is knowledgeable on how fixings work and trained in the use of testing equipment and test procedures.
Our inspectors are trained to use the industry leading Hydrajaws pull test equipment and certified CFA anchor testers.
“A contractor must plan, manage and monitor construction work carried out either by the contractor or by workers under the contractor’s control, to ensure that, so far as is reasonably practicable, it is carried out without risks to health and safety”.CDM 2015.
If the HSE visit you, either on a surveillance visit or following an accident, their first questions asked will be about the SSOW that has been put in place, the competency & training of the person who raised the risk assessment and method statement and the monitoring and review procedure of the SSOW.
